Community engagement

About Us

Crime Stoppers Victoria is committed to building safer communities across our state, and we do this by connecting directly with Victorians. Our team specialises in face‑to‑face engagement, creating meaningful conversations about safety, crime prevention, and the issues that matter most to local communities.

Through community engagement, we’re able to listen to people’s experiences, encourage participation and work together to create a safer Victoria.

We collaborate closely with organisations that share our commitment to community safety, including Victoria Police, local councils, and a wide range of community groups. This collective approach allows us to reach diverse communities — from young people in schools and universities to multicultural communities through leaders, groups, and cultural festivals.

Our Community Engagement Team is equipped to speak with groups of all sizes about a variety of safety topics. These include reporting crime and suspicious behaviour, home and personal security, scam awareness, online safety, and many other areas related to crime prevention.

You’ll find Crime Stoppers Victoria at agricultural shows, festivals and expos, council events, shopping centres, libraries, Rotary and Probus presentations, and secondary schools across the state.

If you’d like Crime Stoppers Victoria to support your community, please contact us.

Why focus on young people?

Crime Stoppers Victoria is a community organisation dedicated to supporting all Victorians. We recognise that young people can be particularly vulnerable when exposed to criminal or suspicious activity and may be less likely to seek help or report concerns that could protect both themselves and their communities

How do we support young people?

Building on Crime Stoppers Victoria’s trusted crime prevention initiatives, we will engage with young people to raise awareness of the consequences of criminal behaviour, encourage positive participation, and provide opportunities for them to contribute to a safer community.

Secondary in-school program

Years 7–8

The Crime Stoppers Victoria Community Engagement Team will deliver a presentation to students, focusing on three topics:

  • Introduction to Crime Stoppers Victoria and general awareness of crime
  • The consequences of carrying a knife
  • How to share crime information with Crime Stoppers.

The presentation will be interactive, with a whole group presentation combined with smaller focus groups, allowing young people to express their concerns and insights about staying safe in their community.
